Killerwhale safari at Offersøy.
In the autumn, we offer killerwhale safari in the fjords surrounding
Offersøy. When the herring arrive into Vestfjorden and Tysfjorden,
the killerwhales follow. They hunt and eat a lot of herring every day and
they are a fascinating scenery for visitors who want this exiting experience
of nature. |

Some facts about the killerwhales.
The killerwhales have always fascinated fishermen and seafarers. This greedy,
toothed whales can achive a length of 9 meters and a weight of 9 tonns.
Its particular mark the dorsal fin can become over one
meter on the males. The killerwhales lives in all the oceans on earth. They
appear in greater or smaller flocks usually families and they
live mostly on fish, but also squids, seals and other whales. In our oceans,
the killerwhales copulate in autumn, and the baby-whales (about two meters
long) are born about a year later. |
